Infant Welfare Society of Evanston Appoints New Executive Director

The Infant Welfare Society of Evanston (IWSE) has appointed Stephen Vick as the organization’s new Executive Director effective September 16th 2015.

Stephen Vick will oversee the operation of the organization, including the early childhood education center based programs at Baby Toddler Nursery and Teen Baby Nursery, and the home based Family Support Services which have helped children and families thrive since 1913. His leadership will support our continued work as a newly named delegate agency
with the School District 65 Early Head Start program.

IWSE Board Chair Helen Hilken says, “As the organization begins this exciting new chapter, we are thrilled with Vick’s experience and commitment to continue its long tradition of service to the community of Evanston. Vick’s vision for the future of IWSE and his experience in creating partnerships and community support for programs benefitting children and families will help us build on and strengthen IWSE’s 102 years of service to families in Evanston.”

Stephen grew up in Evanston, graduated from ETHS and has worked for over 23 years as an educator, social worker, clinician and administrator in the City of Chicago’s Humboldt Park/Logan Square neighborhood. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of the McCormick Tribune YMCA. He developed strong partnerships with the Chicago Public Schools, various nonprofit organizations, faith based organizations, businesses and other community institutions. His experience ranges from child welfare, youth and adolescent development, child care, strategic collaborations and organizational leadership. Before joining the IWSE, Stephen focused much of his work on advocacy & public policy, youth and adolescent development initiatives and innovative program design specifically impacting family health and wellness.

Stephen received his BA from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and MA from The School of Social Service Administration at The University of Chicago.
