The Infant Welfare Society of Evanston Receives Early Head Start Funding

IWSE will join Evanston/Skokie School District 65 in providing Early Head Start services for the next five years.

Evanston, Illinois—The Infant Welfare Society of Evanston (IWSE) announced today that it will be participating with District 65 in providing early childhood center-based programming for children six weeks to three years old and their families through a grant with the Head Start Bureau of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Early Head Start programming will be available to families enrolled at both Baby Toddler Nursery and Teen Baby Nursery. Funding for EHS is not new to IWSE, as the organization pioneered this practice in 1999, when the grant first came to Evanston. Now, with a new partner, District 65, IWSE is excited to continue to offer the quality services families know to expect. “IWSE is thrilled to be able to continue support the early learning of very young children and their families through a continuation of Early Head Start services. IWSE operates two early childhood centers: Baby Toddler Nursery on Main Street in Evanston and Teen Baby Nursery on Dewey Avenue. Both programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and both have a Gold Circle of Quality rating from the State of Illinois. Baby Toddler has 70 enrolled children (56 of them under age 3) and Teen Baby has 16 enrolled children, all under age 3. Programs enroll families that qualify for reduced price services as well as families that pay tuition for the full day, full year program. IWSE is also a partner in Evanston’s Cradle to Career Initiative.
